Prof. Dr. Sinan Akgol

Prof. Dr. Sinan Akgöl was born in İzmir, Turkey, in 1970. He received his Ph.D. degree from Hacettepe University in 2003. Between 2006 and 2021, he held several key administrative positions, including Head of Department and Vice Dean.
In 2005, Prof. Akgöl founded the Biochemistry Research Group at Ege University, which has been primarily engaged in the design and development of monodisperse nano- and microspheres, macrospheres, cryogels, membranes, composite structures, and magnetic carriers. His research extends to the functional modification of these materials for applications in life sciences, sensor development, the biomedical industry, as well as environmental and food safety. More recently, his work has focused on AI-assisted nanobiosensors and the integration of machine learning approaches in separation, purification, and isolation processes.
Prof. Akgöl is the author of over 148 SCI-indexed publications, has received more than 3,500 citations, and holds an h-index of 37. His contributions also include 9 national and international patents, 25 science magazine articles, and editorial work in 8 international book chapters. He has delivered 140 international and 12 invited talks, highlighting his active engagement in the global scientific community.
Currently, Prof. Dr. Akgöl serves as a faculty member at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science, Ege University, and holds a part-time research position at the Nanotechnology Research and Application Center, Sabancı University.
